What an appliance does, trade by trade.

A HOMN appliance sees, listens, reads and computes on site. Here is what that looks like in very different places. Is yours missing? It probably remains to be invented.

Beekeeping and environment

A camera films the entrance of a hive in the middle of a field. An Asian hornet lands among the bees. The appliance recognises it in a fraction of a second and triggers protection: an alert, or an electric harp. In that field there is no network. Everything is decided on the spot.

This is the project that gave birth to HOMN.

Industry

A production line has been running for fifteen years. You don’t replace it: you add senses to it. A camera spots the badly machined part, a vibration sensor flags the bearing that is wearing out. The readings stay in the factory, serving the people who keep it running.

Quality control, predictive maintenance, modernisation without replacement.

Sport

Pitchside, half-time. The staff review the key sequences, the distances covered, each player’s effort. The athletes’ physical and medical data goes to no outside server: it stays with the club.

Video analysis, performance, medical monitoring, officiating.

Lawyers, accountants, notaries

A partner wants to know how the firm handled a similar case six years ago. They ask the question in plain language. The appliance finds the three relevant files in the firm’s archives, summarises the arguments and cites its sources. Professional secrecy never left the office.

Archive search, summaries, first drafts, proofreading.

Local authorities and public administration

A town hall receives hundreds of letters and requests every week. The appliance sorts them, proposes a reply based on council resolutions and local regulations, and leaves the officer to validate. Residents’ data stays within the authority’s walls.

Correspondence, front desk, regulatory research, minutes.

Defence and sensitive sites

On a site isolated from the network by design, no data may leave. The appliance runs entirely offline: image analysis, translation, report summaries, without ever calling the outside.

Isolated operation, full control of models and data.

Retail and crafts

A neighbourhood bakery adjusts the next day’s production every evening. The appliance cross-checks sales history, weather and calendar: fewer unsold goods, fewer stockouts. It also prepares schedules and answers customers’ common questions.

Forecasts, schedules, day-to-day management.

Sea, energy, transport

On board a ship, on a wind turbine or in a remote substation, connectivity is scarce and costly. The appliance monitors equipment, spots anomalies and prepares reports. It transmits only what must be sent, when the link returns.

Monitoring, anomaly detection, on-board reporting.
